resembling koko in worn out corduroy

dear reader, a warm welcome to my blog! i’m christiane and i live in berlin/germany and offline i like to work with my hands and head. i enjoy sewing garments, knit to relax and dabble in other crafts, like pottery or embroidery, every now and then. besides, i’m doing my masters in kulturwissenschaft at humboldt uni (not quite cultural studies, but close) and parent a feisty toddler.

at the moment i am very intrigued by everything fast and slow fashion, waste and sustainability, home dressmaking and the objects related to it. for me, especially as a women/mother/student, craft has a political dimension which i’d like to explore more. sewing and knitting have taught me more than i anticipated, they’ve become more than a pastime to say the least. only recently i’ve been trying to tie together the fuzzy yarn ends with the even more messy academic endeavours of new materialist thinkers.

a note on language. this blog is in english, whereas i am not a native speaker. most blogs/texts i read are in english, too, and my sewing is constantly inspired by the international sewing community. it seems only natural for me to post in english, though it might sound weird at times when american and british english collide! always learning, right?

thanks so much for visiting.
